“We’re villains, as much as we are capable of being heroes…” A lifetime ago, Stefano Vasco Terenzio saw one way to maneuver his family into a game of betrayal against an unbeatable enemy; walking into a bullet. A generation later, what started with one man’s ego will determine the fate of the whole word.
For centuries The Brotherhood and their Gods, the Anunnaki have hidden in plain sight among us. For centuries they have lied, sacrificed man by the thousands, and manipulated humanity into their service. As the clock ticks closer to December 21st, 2012, they will stop at nothing to keep their control of planet Earth.
In the thrilling sequel to Synarchy Book 1: The Awakening, the end is only the beginning. Secrets emerge that will challenge the core of everything you think you believe. All the while a team of scientists must make sense out of the fantastical, and the tenuous link holding together the one family that can save humankind, shatters.
The Long Story
DCS has proven herself to be an author who truly listens to her readers. With improved editing and a ‘cast list’ at the front of the book, I feel like DCS is an author who is always trying to improve – something I greatly appreciate. I fully admit to referring to the cast list from time to time, but having it so readily available kept me in the story.
Once again, I am reminded how much I fell completely in love with the Terenzio family in the first book. The concept of a mafia family coming forward to save humanity is wonderfully refreshing fiction. While I am looking forward to getting to know the triplets – the focus of the story – more, I’m so fascinated by the entire family that I never feel disappointed.
One of my favourite aspects of this book is how much time DCS spent in the past, giving us glimpses of the complicated events that led up to the current storyline. Whereas some authors I have read don’t handle time jumps well, DCS does well – and not just because she puts times and locations at the beginning of each section. I absolutely loved getting a stronger sense of the history of the Terenzio family as well as the other players.
I love how much realism DCS injects into this book. Even people working for the same cause don’t completely agree on all the same things. I loved reading about the SVT Think Tank and how even one of the scientists there was a bit sceptical of everything. I highly enjoyed reading about realistic people rather than people who follow blindly because ‘it’s right’.
The Short Story
I highly recommend this book as another instalment of an intriguing and complicated web upon which the fate of humanity rests. I can hardly wait to read book three.
